The single most important thing to remember when thinking about what to wear for your headshots is that you should feel good in what you decide to wear. Our goal is to take headshots that look and feel like your authentic self and if you’re uncomfortable in the clothes that you’re wearing, that’s not going to happen. Aside from that, there are very few rules, but in general you want to stay away from busy patterns or anything else that will distract from the main attraction: you. I love what I do, and I especially love watching people see themselves looking amazing in photos, often for the first time. Sometimes that means that people want ALL of unedited photos from our session together. So I’ve made that easy by offering an image buyout for a flat fee of $750.

Life happens with absolutely no regards for our plans. So I understand that things come up from time to time. That’s why my policy is that as long as you give me 24 hours notice, you can reschedule your appointment at not cost to you. Unfortunately, cancellations, however, are non-refundable.

Unless you’re working with a makeup artist who has experience applying makeup for specifically for headshots, I generally advise against it. For women, if you normally wear makeup, I suggest keeping it simple and just doing it yourself. Just be sure to avoid false eye-lashes, bold lip or eyeshadow colors, and foundations with SPF, as these usually cause a bit of a shine. For men, I really feel like you don’t need to worry about makeup. Regardless of your gender, I will take care of minor blemishes when I retouch your photos, so you can rest assured that you will look your very best!

Without exception, when a new client arrives for their session, some of the first words out of their mouth are usually, “I hate getting my picture taken” or “I’m really not photogenic”. And without exception, by the end of their session they feel completely different.
Everyone is photogenic. Sometimes we just need a little coaching. That’s where I come in. I will guide your poses and expressions so that your headshot communicates the most authentic, attractive, and professional version of you.

Because I shoot out of my home studio in Decatur, I have the added benefit of having a backyard space where we can step outside to take some outdoor headshots as well, if you want to have some added variety. But for my typical headshot session, most of what we do will be in studio. This way, we don’t have to worry about what the weather is doing and we can focus all of our attention on what really matters: you.

I never place a time limit on my regular individual sessions, so this means that we can take our time and photograph you on as many different backgrounds and in as many different outfits as you’d like. I’d say on average the typical session is usually somewhere between 45 minutes to an hour and a half, including image selection. During the image selection process, we’ll sit down together and you’ll choose which images you want to purchase. I’ll be there to guide you and offer my opinions, to whatever extent you find helpful.

You’ll receive your final images via a Google Drive folder within 5-7 business days for an individual headshot session. If you need expedited delivery, 24 hour turnaround is available for an additional fee.
